Why are esports gaining traction in education?
Esports are becoming more popular in education due to the potential for scholarships and job opportunities for Gen Z students. Schools are integrating esports into their curricula and forming varsity teams, which has led to increased IT demands for high-performance networks to support these activities.
What are the key requirements for a successful esports network?
When developing a network for esports, institutions should focus on flexibility, reliability, and low latency. This includes ensuring sufficient bandwidth for all internet traffic, achieving latency levels of 5-10 ms, and utilizing unified management solutions to streamline network administration.
How can schools enhance security for esports programs?
To enhance security, schools should implement a zero-trust security framework using solutions like Aruba's ClearPass Policy Manager. This approach ensures role-based access and real-time policies to protect players and spectators from potential hacks while maintaining a seamless connectivity experience.
