Despite the rise in data breaches, 82% of consumers still trust online digital service providers to protect their personal data at least somewhat. Trust levels vary by country, with Brazil, Mexico, and the UAE showing the highest trust, while Germany, Australia, France, and the UK report lower levels of trust.
How prevalent is cybercrime globally?
Cybercrime is on the rise, with the FBI reporting 847,376 cases in the US alone in 2021, a 7% increase from the previous year. Globally, one in three consumers (33%) have experienced a data breach, with nearly half of consumers in the UAE and the USA affected.
What actions do consumers take after a data breach?
Following a data breach, 42% of consumers stop using the affected company, and many request that their information be deleted. Additionally, 70% believe that companies should implement mandatory data protection measures like encryption and two-factor authentication.
