Lenovo XClarity Controller
This product eGuide explains features, configuration, enhancements, and other technical details on the Lenovo XClarity Controller 2 (XCC2).
What is the Lenovo XClarity Controller 2 (XCC2)?
The Lenovo XClarity Controller 2 (XCC2) is an integrated service processor found in many of the latest Lenovo ThinkSystem, ThinkAgile, and ThinkEdge servers. It consolidates various functionalities such as service processor control, monitoring, alerting, super I/O, video control, and remote presence capabilities into a single chip on the server system board. XCC2 is built on the AST2600 baseboard management controller (BMC) and operates using a dual-core ARM Cortex A7 processor.
What features does XCC2 offer?
XCC2 offers two levels of features: Standard and Platinum. The Standard version includes capabilities such as system information gathering, health monitoring, event logging, and real-time power usage monitoring. The Platinum version builds on these features by adding advanced functionalities like remote KVM, virtual console collaboration, enhanced security modes, and the System Guard feature, which monitors hardware inventory for unexpected changes.
How can I manage XCC2 remotely?
XCC2 can be managed remotely through several methods, including a command-line interface via SSH, a web-based interface accessible through a browser, and industry-standard protocols like IPMI, SNMP, and Redfish. Additionally, users can manage XCC2 using the XClarity Mobile app, which allows for system monitoring and management functions when connected to the server via USB.
